ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats center Keith Aucoin has been named to the 2006-07 American Hockey League Second All-Star team, as voted on by the players and media in the AHL's 27 member cities.

Poised to finish in the top 10 in the AHL in scoring for the third time in five years, Aucoin is a Second Team AHL All-Star for the second consecutive season. His 66 assists and 91 points are career highs, and they have come in just 60 games. A native of Waltham, Mass., the 28-year-old Aucoin has recorded 31 multiple-point games and has had five scoring streaks of at least six games each. The River Rats' captain has also skated in eight NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes this season, registering one assist, and he appeared in his second consecutive AHL All-Star Classic.

"Keith has had a terrific season," head coach-GM Tom Rowe said. "He's been arguably the best player in the league, as well as the most valuable player in the league."

Aucoin will receive a custom designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the 2006-07 AHL Second All-Star Team.

The River Rats, who are tied with Bridgeport for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division with 74 points and six games left to play, complete a three-game road trip Friday, April 6 at Binghamton at 7:05 p.m.
