MANCHESTER, NH - Jordan Weal tallied a team-high four points as the Monarchs beat the Bruins, 5-4, on Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The Monarchs (20-6-1-1) evened their season series at two a piece with the Bruins (15-12-2-0).

"I thought the guys played well," Head Coach Mike Stothers said. "I was actually happier with today's game than I was last night. Providence is a good team. They have guys who can cause fits all night, but we found a way, and that's a good thing."

Providence kicked off the scoring early in the first period with Anthony Camara's third tally of the year. He netted a quick wrist shot off of a feed from Tommy Cross 2:34 into the first period.

Nick Shore answered back with a goal on the power play at 9:27. Shore added an assist later in the game and now has nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) over his last three games.

Kevin Gravel put his fourth tally of the year past Malcolm Subban on a slap shot from the point. The goal came at the 14:28 mark of the first period.

Justin Auger scored 26 seconds later, picking up a rebound off of David Van der Gulik's shot. Auger was taken down but still managed to sling the puck around Subban at 14:54 of the first.

The Bruins capitalized on their first power play opportunity of the night early in the second period. David Pastrnak took a pass Jordan Caron and fired it past J.F. Berube to make it 3-2 at 3:39 of the second.

Brian Ferlin tied the game up for the Bruins at 8:21 of the second as he cut to the slot, took a feed from Ethan Werek, and sent it over Berube's glove.

The Monarchs took the lead back in the third period, when Brian O'Neill scored his ninth goal of the season on the power play. Shore took what looked like a slap shot and put it directly on O'Neill's stick just outside the crease for the redirect goal. The go-ahead came just 2:17 into the third.

Jordan Weal extended the Monarchs lead to two goals midway through the third frame when he scored at 11:55 in the third.

That lead was quickly cut in half by Pastrnak's second of the night at 15:19 on the third.

Subban was pulled for the extra attacker for almost 1:30 but it wasn't enough as the Monarchs held on for the 5-4 win.

The Monarchs will return to the ice after the holiday on Dec. 26 when they play in Worcester at 5 p.m. They return to the Verizon Wireless Arena on Dec. 27 when they host the Bruins on Trophies Night at 3 p.m. The Stanley Cup, Red Sox World Series trophies, and Celtics championship trophies will all be in attendance.

Notes:

* The win tonight extended Manchester's winning streak at home to eight games beginning on Nov. 8. * Jordan Weal had four points tonight, (goal, 3 assists) his first four-point game since Jan. 18, 2014. * Over the team's last three games, four different players have recorded four-point games (Andreoff, Weal, Shore, O'Neill). * Brian O'Neill has 13 points (2 goals, 11 assists) in his last five games. * The Monarchs went 3-for-5 on the power play tonight and have scored on five of their last eight power-play chances.
