Boucher pulled Albany within one with a power play goal in the second period. Joe Whitney setup Boucher for a one-timer from the blueline at 7:32. The goal, which included a secondary assist from Reece Scarlett, was Boucher's third in four outings and seventh of the season.
Syracuse's Vladislav Namestnikov answered less than two minutes later. He redirected Nikita Nesterov's point shot at 9:30 for the team's second man-up goal of the game.
In the third, the Devils pulled within one when Graham Black raced to keep the puck in the zone and then found Thompson cutting to the net at 7:56.
