First Period Too Much for B-Sens

December 20, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators fell to the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight in their final game before the holiday break. The B-Sens allowed all three goals in the opening 20 minutes and failed to get their offense going all night. Jeff Zatkoff stopped all 35 shots faced to earn his second shutout of the season.

Alex Boak opened the scoring 8:36 into the first with his first American Hockey League goal off assists from Matia Marcantuoni and Dominik Uher. Just over four minutes later, Nick Drazenovic made it 2-0 Penguins when he beat the B-Sens Scott Greenham clean over the blocker side for his fourth marker of the year. Conor Sheary pushed Wilkes-Barre's lead to 3-0 just 45 seconds later to give the visitors the three goal lead heading into the first intermission.

Despite outshooting the Penguins 27-13 over the final 40 minutes of play, no pucks managed to find the back of the net as the B-Sens were shutout for the second time in the 2014-15 campaign.

Greenham finished with 21 saves as his record fell to 4-4-1 in his 10th appearance in net this season. Binghamton went 0-for-5 on the man advantage but kept the Penguins in check on its four chances.
