
Penguins Sign Cianfrini to PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced that they have signed defenseman Paul Cianfrini to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Cianfrini, 25, has collected one goal, two assists and two penalty minutes in 16 games this season for the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). The third-year pro has appeared in 154 ECHL contests with Toledo, Trenton and Wheeling, totaling 32 points (3G-29A) and 73 penalty minutes.
A native of Dundas, Ontario, Cianfrini split four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) between the Belleville Bulls and Erie Otters from 2006-10. During the 2009-10 season, he made his professional debut with the Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League, skating in six games and recording three points (1G-2A).
Cianfrini went on to play two seasons of collegiate hockey at Nipissing University (2010-12), compiling seven goals, 19 assists and 42 penalty minutes over 53 games.
In a separate transaction, the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Eric Hartzell from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Wheeling.
In two appearances this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hartzell has gone 2-0-0 with a 2.92 goals against average and a .882 save percentage. He has also compiled a record of 5-4-0 for the Nailers in 2014-15, while recording a 2.54 GAA, a .915 save percentage and one shutout.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins travel up to Binghamton on Saturday, Dec. 20 to take on the Senators at 7:05 p.m.
