Manchester Monarchs News Release
HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs and Solar Bears finish off their three-game series this afternoon, when they play for the sixth time this season. With their win last night, the Monarchs now hold a 4-0-1-0 record against the Solar Bears, and look to add to their 6-1-1-2 record against the South Division.
WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs (78 points) maintain their six point division lead over the Adirondack Thunder in the East, and now trail the Toledo Walleye by one point for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Orlando dropped to 12th in the conference (56 points) with their loss last night, but remain just six points out of a playoff bid.
FIRST TO THREE - Three goals has been the magic number for the Monarchs this season, as the team has posted a 31-3-0-1 record when lighting the lamp three times. Orlando checks in with an 11-0-1-2 record when potting three goals. In each of the four victories this season over the Solar Bears, Manchester reached the three-goal target, but in their one loss, scored only two goals.
SCORE FIRST! - When the Monarchs score first in a game this season, they are 23-4-0-2, which calculates to a .828 winning percentage, good for fourth highest in the ECHL. Orlando checks in with a 16-8-2-0 record when lighting the lamp first, a .654 winning percentage, the fifth worst in the ECHL.
SAFE BET AFTER TWO - The Monarchs have not lost in regulation this season when leading after two periods of play. Manchester comes into tonight's game at 23-0-0-2 when taking a lead into the 3rd period. Orlando on the other hand boasts a 6-0-1-0 record when leading after two periods on the road.
BEST YET - With his second two-goal game of the season last night, Mark Anthoine matched his ECHL career high for goals in a season (8). Since joining the Monarchs on January 7, Anthoine has posted 11 points in 21 games on eight goals and three assists. Entering this afternoon's game, Anthoine is tied for the team lead in points against Orlando (4), and his four goals leads the Monarchs in goals against the Solar Bears.
STUCK IN HONEY - The Monarchs defense has been stingy this weekend, and has held Solar Bears top scorers, Brady Vail and T.J. Foster, pointless in the first two legs of the three-game set. Vail has not recorded a point in his last five games.
