INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks topped the Tulsa Oilers 2-1 on Sunday evening at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena, moving the playoff-bound Mavs up another 2 points in the ECHL standings.
Net-minder Steven Summerhays looked to lock in his second career shutout late in the third period, until Tulsa's Kurcera got the Oilers on the board with less than 3 minutes left in the game to cut into the Mavs lead. Missouri outlasted the visitors' efforts to tie the game, and skated from the ice with a 2-1 win, improving their overall record to 45-7-3-2 (95 points).

Newcomer Darian Dziurzynski doubled the Mavericks lead, 2-0, at 12:50 of the final frame (assisted by Tyler Barnes and Jesse Root), marking his second goal in his first two games wearing a Missouri sweater.
Connor Kucera scored in an Oilers short-handed situation with 2:28 left in the game to push his team onto the scoreboard, but the home team held strong and claimed the 2-1 regulation win.
