
Mike Pelech Released from PTO

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced the club has released forward Mike Pelech from his professional tryout contract (PTO) with the team. In a separate transaction, goaltender Brian Elliott has been recalled from his conditioning loan by the St. Louis Blues.
Pelech, 23, appeared in eight games during his time in Peoria and recorded one goal and 2 penalty minutes. Overall, The 6'3, 206-pound center has seen time in 18 American Hockey League games this year with the Connecticut Whale (seven),Worcester Sharks (three) and Peoria. He recorded his first AHL point with an assist on Jan. 19 while with Worcester.
He returns to the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) where he has played in 50 games this year and has recorded 46 points (13g, 33a). Overall, the fourth-year pro has appeared in 24 AHL games in his career with Manchester, Norfolk and Connecticut. In 258 career ECHL games he has scored 49 goals and added 124 assists for 173 points to go along with 456 penalty minutes.
A native of Toronto, Pelech was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League where he collected 170 points (51g, 119a) in 249 games.
Elliott, 27, went 1-1-0 this weekend for the Rivermen including a 2-0 shutout over Lake Erie on Saturday. He posted a 1.51 goals-against average and 0.946 save percentage in his two starts.
He has appeared in 11 games for the Blues this season posting a 3-6-1 record including a 3.65 goals against average and a .851 save percentage. Overall, the 6'2, 209-pound goaltender has appeared in six National Hockey League (NHL) seasons, including the last two with the Blues, posting a 87-69-21 record including a 2.65 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in 191 career games.
A former ninth round pick by Ottawa (#291 overall) in 2003, Elliott has 82 games of AHL experience over his career. He is 40-33-2 lifetime with a 2.72 goals-against average and 0.917 save percentage with the Binghamton Senators and Rivermen.
