Drazenovic Assigned To Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Monday that center Nick Drazenovic has been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Drazenovic was recalled by Columbus on Sunday morning and played for the Blue Jackets in their 2-1 overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks last night. He is scoreless in eight contests with the Blue Jackets this season and is second on the Falcons with 49 points (17g-32a) in 54 games. Drazenovic leads the AHL with 27 power-play points (9g-18a).

A native of Prince George, British Columbia, Drazenovic skated with the Peoria Rivermen, St. Louis' primary developmental affiliate, during the first-four seasons of his career from 2007 to 2011. In 378 AHL games between Springfield and Peoria, Drazenovic has 100 goals and 150 assists for 250 points. He has not posted a point in 11-career NHL contests with Columbus and St. Louis. Drazenovic, 26, was selected by the Blues in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The Falcons moved into a four-way tie for first place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 2-1 win over Connecticut on Saturday night. Springfield can clinch a spot in the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs on Tuesday night with a home win over Albany and a loss by Norfolk to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
