This week:
The Whale complete their regular-season home schedule with games at the XL Center Friday against Springfield (7:00 PM faceoff) and Sunday vs. Providence (3:00), with a road game at Bridgeport in between on Saturday night (7:00).
Friday, April 5 vs. the Springfield Falcons at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.
* This is the Whale's last Friday-night home game of the regular season, so it's the last chance to take advantage of the special Friday-night discount, $1 hot dogs and $2 beers until the end of the first intermission.
* This night also features a special appearance by "Miracle on Ice" 1980 Team USA gold medal-winning hockey players Jack O'Callahan, Dave Silk and Steve Janaszak to support "A Miracle for Justina", which is a fund to help defray the associated expenses of Justina, a 14-year-old West Hartford girl who is dealing with a complicated set of health issues. O'Callahan, Silk and Janaszak will be signing autographs for fans in the XL Center Atrium during the first intermission. There will also be a silent auction before and during the game of valuable sports memorabilia. Auction items will include autographed shirts donated by 1980 Team USA Olympians Jim Craig, and Mike Eruzione. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to A Miracle for Justina. Fans can also take advantage of a special ticket discount, as $27 lower-bowl tickets can be purchased for only $15 each, with a portion of the proceeds from those discounted tickets going to A Miracle for Justina. To order the special A Miracle for Justina tickets, contact Jennifer Pelletier at a_miracle_for_justina@hotmail.com or (860) 614-7300. The deadline for ticket orders is April 3.
* This is the second-to-last of 12 meetings on the year between the Whale and Springfield, and the Falcons' last trip of the regular season to the XL Center. The Whale are 4-6-0-0 in ten games against Springfield, 2-3-0-0 at home.
* The Falcons' 2-1 triumph over the Whale Saturday in Springfield was their fifth straight win and vaulted them into a tie for the Eastern Conference lead, with a record of 39-18-5-4 for 87 points.
* Michael Chaput and Nick Holden scored power-play goals for the Falcons against the Whale Saturday, and Curtis McElhinney made 25 saves.
* For this and all Whale home games, tickets start as low as $10 each ($12 each when tickets are purchased on the day of the game), at the Public Power Ticket Office at the XL Center, through TicketMaster Charge-by-Phone at 1-800-745-3000 and on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.
* Radio - live with Bob Crawford and Mark Bailey on "Beethoven Radio" AM 1290, and on-line at www.ctwhale.com. Video streaming at www.ahllive.com.
Saturday, April 6 at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Webster Bank Arena), 7:00 p.m.
* This game concludes the ten-game Nutmeg-State season series between the Whale and the Sound Tigers. The Whale have won the last two meetings, but have taken only four out of nine overall (4-4-1-0). Connecticut has split four previous visits to Bridgeport.
* The 27-28-6-5 (65 pts.) Sound Tigers enter the week in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, eight points out of a playoff spot and nine points behind the seventh-place Whale. Bridgeport has lost its last two games and is 1-3-0-1 in its last five.
* The Sound Tigers' John Persson, who leads all scorers in the season series against the Whale with 5-5-10 in eight games, returned to the Bridgeport lineup in Saturday's 4-1 loss at Adirondack after missing the previous eight games, and 11 of the previous 12, due to injury.
* Radio - live with Bob Crawford on "The Rock" 106.9 WCCC-FM. All Whale Saturday night games this year will be beamed on The Rock 106.9 WCCC's 50,000 watts of power. Also available on-line at www.ctwhale.com. Video streaming at www.ahllive.com.
Sunday, April 7 vs. the Providence Bruins at the XL Center, 3:00 p.m.
* This is the Whale's last home game of the regular season, as the club will play its last five games on the road.
* The Whale will be celebrating "Fan Appreciation Day" at this last home game. The day will be full of special events, including a post-game skate for all fans in attendance.
* This is also fans' last chance to take advantage of the Whale's "Click It or Ticket Sunday Family Value Packs". Those include a ticket, a hot dog or a pizza slice and a soda, all for just $18.
* The Bruins (41-21-0-5, 87 pts.) enter this week part of a three-way tie for the Eastern Conference lead, and just two points off the overall AHL points lead. Providence is 2-2-0-0 in its last four games, but has at least a point in 11 of its last 14 (10-3-0-1).
* Bruin winger Bobby Robins (4-6-10 in 66 GP) leads the AHL by a wide margin in both penalty minutes (292) and major penalties (34).

The two clubs have split two previous games at the XL Center, with the Whale winning 6-3 on October 27 and the Bruins taking a 3-1 decision December 22.
