SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage are proud to announce that Mike Green has been named the Rampage's 2002-2003 American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year. The award honors the Rampage player adjudged to have made the greatest commitment to his community and charitable organizations throughout the course of the season.

Since arriving in the Alamo City in late September, Green has taken a strong interest in the San Antonio area, volunteering his time at a variety of community events. On the day before Thanksgiving, Green, in conjunction with Christian Senior Services delivered Meals on Wheels dinners to several homebound residents in the San Antonio community. Additionally, Green has made appearances at local San Antonio area schools to speak about the importance of staying away from drugs and alcohol and staying involved in athletics. Most recently, he volunteered his time at Kate Schenck Elementary School during their annual Jump Rope for Heart event, which raised nearly $5,000 for the American Heart Association. After selected Rampage games and practices he can also be found participating in postgame skates, as well as signing autographs for the fans.

Green has also shown an interest in the Junior Rampage, San Antonio's first year youth hockey team. Prior to one of the Junior Rampage's recent tournaments Green and teammate David Gove made a surprise appearance in the team's locker room and gave them a spirited pre-game speech, in addition to posing for pictures and signing autographs.

On the ice, Green has posted AHL career highs playing in all 74 of the Rampage's games this year, notching 25 goals and 27 assists. His 52 points place him second on the team, while he also ranks second on the club with four game-winning tallies. In addition, Green has at least one point in 24 of the Rampage's 34 victories this season.

In recognition of his efforts, Green will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming home game.

Green is now a finalist for the AHL's 2002-2003 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award honoring the overall American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year. One player will be selected from the 28 individual team award winners to be honored during the Calder Cup 2003 Finals as the 2002-2003 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award winner.
