Milwaukee Admirals News Release

The Milwaukee Admirals are proud to announce that right wing Cameron Mann has been named the Admirals 2002-2003 American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year. The award honors the player adjudged to have made the greatest commitment to his community and charitable organizations throughout the course of the season.

In his first season with the Admirals, Cameron has taken an active roll in all of the Admirals' community projects and has delivered strong and valuable messages to the youth that he has had the chance to interact with in the Milwaukee area. The Thompson, Manitoba native has served as positive role model to children in our community most significantly in the Admirals' partnership with Junior Achievement in the "It's Your Future - Give It Your Best Shot" letter-writing contest. He personally responded to letters written to him by local 5th - 8th grade students. He followed the letters with in-school visits to a number of the classes that participated in the project.

The six-year pro-hockey veteran connected with children during times of play as well. He made appearances associated with the team's kids' club "Roscoe's Crew." The kids enjoyed skating on the same ice along with Cameron, the Admirals mascot "Roscoe" and a handful of other teammates at the annual get-together. Cameron Mann also participated in fund raising activities for various Milwaukee area charities. He served as a celebrity waiter in the Prevent Blindness Celebrity Waiters Dinner that helped to raise over $50,000 for Prevent Blindness of Wisconsin.

In recognition of his efforts, Mann will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming home game.

Mann is now a finalist for the AHL's 2002-2003 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award honoring the overall American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year. One player will be selected from the 28 individual team award winners to be honored during the Calder Cup 2003 Finals as the 2002-2003 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award winner.

The Yanick Dupre Memorial Award is named after the late Yanick Dupre, who passed away in August of 1997 at the age of 24, following a 16-month battle with leukemia. Dupre played four seasons with the Hershey Bears (1992-96) registering 169 points (70-99) in 207 AHL games. He also played in 35 NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

American Specialty is the industry leader in providing risk services for the sports and entertainment fields. HG Insurance Services, Inc., is a full-service, national brokerage specializing in sports, entertainment and program business.
