Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that David Hymovitz has been named the Binghamton Senators 2002-2003 American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year. The award honors the player adjudged to have made the greatest commitment to his community and charitable organizations throughout the course of the season.

Hymovitz's initiative resulted in the Senators being well represented in and around the city of Binghamton in the club's first season in the American Hockey League. Among his off- ice highlights, Hymovitz spearheaded a Christmastime donation program among the Senators' players that benefited the Day Nursery Association, headed a list of players that took part in a holiday blood drive for the local chapter of the American Red Cross, and arranged to visit Hillel Academy, a private Jewish school in the Southern Tier. Hymovitz also participated in numerous reading appearances in conjunction with local elementary schools and their spring reading programs.

In recognition of his efforts, Hymovitz will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on- ice presentation prior to an upcoming home game.

Hymovitz is now a finalist for the AHL's 2002-2003 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award honoring the overall American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year. One player will be selected from the 28 individual team award winners to be honored during the Calder Cup 2003 Finals as the 2002-2003 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award winner.

The Yanick Dupre Memorial Award is named after the late Yanick Dupre, who passed away in August of 1997 at the age of 24, following a 16- month battle with leukemia. Dupre played four seasons with the Hershey Bears (1992-96) registering 169 points (70-99) in 207 AHL games. He also played in 35 NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

American Specialty is the industry leader in providing risk services for the sports and entertainment fields. HG Insurance Services, Inc., is a full-service, national brokerage specializing in sports, entertainment and program business.

The Senators hit the ice Saturday for their only home game of the weekend at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena as it welcomes the South Division-leading Norfolk Admirals in a 7:05 p.m. face-off. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night with numerous door prizes to be awarded throughout the evening. Following the contest, the annual Awards Night ceremony will be held on the ice as the team will be honored for its accomplishments in its inaugural season. Additionally, the first 500 fans, 18 and over, through the doors that night will receive a complimentary Mega Millions lottery ticket courtesy of the New York State Lottery.

Tickets for Saturday night's game, and all remaining regular season games, are now on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets, the Arena box office, the Center Ice Team Shop at Metrocenter, or by calling the Sens Hotline at 722-SENS (7367). Additionally, 2003-04 season tickets and Calder Cup playoff tickets are now on sale at the Senators' executive offices on the third floor of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
