Mike Cornell Loaned to Florida

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Feb. 19, 2014) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that defenseman Mike Cornell has been loaned to the Florida Everblades (ECHL).

Cornell, 25, signed a professional tryout agreement with the Sound Tigers on Nov. 15 after skating in 12 games with the Everblades to start the season. In his 12 games in Florida, Cornell tallied six points (one goal, five assists). After his 25-game tryout contract expired, Cornell signed an AHL deal with the Sound Tigers. In 35 AHL games this season, Cornell picked up 10 points (four goals, six assists) and 78 penalty minutes.

Cornell was a four-year player at the University of Maine and signed with the Everblades following his senior year in 2012-13. In 128 games for the Black Bears, Cornell had 29 points (five goals, 24 assists).
