Mid-week East Division battle in Philly Wednesday
January 24, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release
It's the BEARS and Phantoms Wednesday night in south Philadelphia, the sixth meeting of 12 between the two clubs in 2006-07. HERSHEY enters play tonight three points back of the idle Norfolk Admirals with two games in hand on the front runners.
Since the dawn of the 2005-06 season, the BEARS have enjoyed great success against the Phantoms. Entering play tonight, HERSHEY has points in 15 of its last 17 games against Philadelphia, including 11 wins. The Phantoms enter play Wednesday in sixth place with 35 points, eight behind fourth place Albany.
Goaltender Nolan Schaefer will dress for HERSHEY Wednesday, one day after being acquired on loan from the Worcester Sharks (AHL). Schaefer will wear number one for the game in Philadelphia. Rookie goaltender Davis Parley is also expected to make the trip. BEARS Head Coach Bruce Boudreau said Wednesday morning at the pre-game skate that Maxime Daigneault could be out one to two weeks with a lower body injury.
The night on ice in the AHL's East Division features the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hosting the Manitoba Moose at Wachovia Arena at 7:05 p.m. Binghamton will travel to Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m., while the Albany River Rats will host the Syracuse Crunch at Times Union Center at 7:00 p.m.
Tonight's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network beginning at 6:45 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from south Philadelphia. HERSHEY will travel to Norfolk Friday to face the Admirals at 7:15 before returning home to face Norfolk at 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center Box Office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR. Following Saturday night's game with Norfolk, the BEARS will not play at home again until Wednesday, February 7 when the Portland Pirates come to town. It will be Portland's first game at GIANT Center since losing Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on May 30, 2006.
