Abbotsford Heat News Release
Nitro, the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' mascot, is having a birthday and everyone is invited. On Friday, January 26, join the Knights, Nitro and area mascots at the Civic Auditorium for a celebration. The Knights will be hosting the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 p.m.
During the first intermission, Nitro and the other mascots will square off in a friendly game of broomball, an event known as "Mascot Mania." Area mascots that are scheduled to participate include Lil' Red from the University of Nebraska, Billy Bluejay from Creighton University, Sir Loin from the Omaha Beef, Casey from the Omaha Royals, Major Scales from the Omaha Symphony, Blades from the Omaha Lancers and many more.
After the game, fans will receive ice cream treats provided by Blue Bunny. They'll also be able to get on the ice for a post game skate with the team. Fans are invited to bring their own skates or rent them at the Civic.
The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights continue their season-high eight-game home stand tonight when they host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:00 p.m. They'll finish the week before the 2007 Rbk Hockey/AHL All-Star Classic on Friday when they host the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets for all Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' games are on sale at the Omaha Civic Auditorium box office Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets also are available through all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (402) 422-1212.
