Mesa and Mujica Return for Thunder; Mahoney Hits DL

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Wednesday that OF Melky Mesa has been activated from the disabled list and INF Yadil Mujica has been transferred back to the team from AAA Scranton/Wilkes Barre. In addition, INF Kevin Mahoney has been placed on the disabled list with groin soreness.

Mesa, a member of the Yankees 40-man roster, missed the last 18 games because of shoulder soreness. He will bat 5th and serve as the DH Wednesday night in the team's game at Erie. Mujica has now been up and back from Scranton three times this season. The native of Cuba has batted .258 in 21 games for the Thunder. Mahoney left Tuesday night's game at Erie after running out a fielder's choice groundball in the fifth inning.
