EL1 Richmond Flying Squirrels

Squirrels and Fisher Cats Suspended Wednesday

June 6, 2012 - Eastern League (EL1)
Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release

Manchester, NH - The Richmond Flying Squirrels and New Hampshire Fisher Cats were suspended after three scoreless innings on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The game will be restarted at 6:05 PM on Thursday night. The Flying Squirrels will be batting in the top of the fourth inning when the resumption occurs. A seven-inning ballgame will follow to complete the three-game series.

A lengthy rain-delay following the third inning forced the suspension of the ballgame. Both starting pitchers had been outstanding in their three innings on the hill. Richmond right-hander Andy Reichard did not allow a hit, walked one and struck out four over three nearly perfect innings. New Hampshire lefty Brett Cecil faced the minimum over his three innings. He allowed a first-inning single to Ehire Adrianza, but rolled a double-play to finish the frame. He retired the side in order in the second and third innings.

Neither starter will return on Thursday. Neither team has announced who will take over in the fourth inning on Thursday.

The seven-inning series-finale will feature Richmond RHP Chris Heston (5-2, 0.68) against New Hampshire RHP Deck McGuire (2-6, 6.46). Pregame coverage will begin at 5:35 PM on Sports Radio 910 and SportsRadio910.com .
