Memphis Drops Game Three at Iowa on Thursday Night

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a 12-game road trip at the Iowa Cubs on Thursday with a 9-5 loss at Principal Park in game three of the six-game series.
Right fielder Matt Koperniak and first baseman Luken Baker each registered two RBI in the loss. Koperniak belted a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Baker crushed a two-run double in the first to get the scoring started. Baker finished the night 2-for-2 with two RBI, three walks and the double.
Zack Thompson (1-3) got the start for Memphis. The left-handed pitcher tossed 3.0 innings, allowed seven runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out three batters. Reliever Kodi Whitley tossed a scoreless eighth inning, allowed one hit and struck out a batter.
The Redbirds (38-34) return to AutoZone Park on Wednesday, June 28 to begin a six-game homestand at 7:05p.m. CDT against the Nashville Sounds.
