Melville Joins Cougars

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, have announced that pitcher Tim Melville has joined the Cougars from the Royals' rookie league team in Surprise, Arizona. Pitcher Bryan Brickhouse has been moved to the inactive list. This morning's roster move maintains the Cougars' active roster at the league limit of 25 players as the Cougars conclude a three-game series against Clinton this evening. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark

Melville (4th Rd, 2008) opened the 2012 season at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, making five starts. Last season at Class-A Advanced Wilmington, Melville made 25 starts and was 11-10 with a 4.32 ERA. Melville pitched in the Midwest League in 2009, when the Royals' Class-A affiliate was in Burlington, Iowa. Entering the 2010 season, Melville was rated as the sixth-best prospect by Baseball America.

Brickhouse (3rd Rd, 2011) made 10 starts for Kane County this season, going 3-3 with a 5.61 ERA. In his final start on August 11, the right-hander pitched a season-best 7 innings, allowing just one earned run.
