Mejia Named Midwest League Player of the Week

(Eastlake, OH) - Lake County Captains catcher Francisco Mejia had a torrid week at the plate and has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the week ending June 12.

Mejia, who last week was named to the Eastern Division All-Star Team, hit four home runs and drove in 11 RBI in just six games. The switch-hitting catcher even hit home runs on back-to-back games twice during the week. Mejia also doubled and scored eight runs.

Mejia was more than just a power-hitter this past week. He also hit for average, going 13-for-25 at the plate for a .520 batting average. He put together an on-base percentage of .538 and a sky-high 1.040 slugging percentage. Mejia only struck out five times and walked once.
