SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Quad Cities River Bandits pitcher Kevin McCanna has been added to the Midwest League Western Division All-Star roster. McCanna has a 2-3 record and 3.14 ERA in 11 games, eight starts, for the River Bandits this season. In his last outing on June 12, McCanna went a career-long eight innings, allowing one run on nine hits - six of which came through the first three innings - and did not issue a walk in a no-decision. He replaces David Burkhalter, who was placed on Wisconsin's 7-day disabled list on June 8.

McCanna was a 13th-round draft choice by the Astros in 2015 out of Rice University. The 22-year-old was born in Joliet, Illinois but raised in The Woodlands, Texas - a suburb of Houston. He went 3-3 with a 3.72 ERA in 38.2 innings for short-season Tri-City in his first professional season in 2015.

McCanna becomes the second River Bandit to join the 2016 All-Star team, joining outfielder Kyle Tucker, who will be starting in the midsummer classic. The 52nd annual Midwest League All-Star Game takes place on Tuesday, June 21, at Perfect Game Field and Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa - home of the Kernels - at 7:05 p.m. CT.
