Recap of Weekends Action: Mechanics Go 1-2-0 In Week Six!

- 11/24: THANKSGIVING IN MUSKEGON

The Fury capitalized first to take the lead early when Jeff Petruic received a pass from behind the net from Billy Collins and Bill Zalba at 16:02. The Mechanics would receive a five-minute power play at the end of the period as Jeff Nelson received a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct. The power play carried over to the second period, however, as the period would expire. The Mechanics would outshoot the Fury 16 to 10 in the first period. The Fury would extend their lead to three as they would score two more goals in the second period. David Wrigley and Rustyn Dolyny would tally the second period goals. The Fury would outshoot the Mechanics 19 to six in the second period, thus leading in shots after two periods with 29 to just 22 Mechanics shots. Adam Edinger (6) would score to break Clayton Pools shutout bid at 15:35 of the third period. Greg Bullock (14) and Tom Kotsopoulos (1) would tally the assists on the power play goal. Edingers' goal was his third goal in as many games and his fourth point in the past three games.

Rod Branch made his sixth start in a row and made 35 saves on 39 Fury shots.

- 11/25: MECHANICS FACE THE GENERALS FOR THE SECOND TIME

The Mechanics jumped out in front first as Adam Edinger (7) would beat Flint goaltender Peter Brady at 2:34 for the 1-0 lead. Chris Bogas (2) would tally the lone assist. Flint would respond with two goals of their own to take the 2-1 lead into the intermission. Only one goal was scored in the second as Flint would score on the power play to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. The Mechanics made it 3-2 at 13:12 as Edinger (8) would score again with the helper by Henry Acres (3). After Flint would score again to go up 4-2 the Mechanics responded with another goal at 17:51 by Peter Szabo (3). Brent Gretzky (12) and Edinger (5) tallied the assists. The Mechanics out shot the Generals 32 to 29 while Rod Branch made his seventh start in a row making 25 saves. Adam Edinger continues at a high pace netting his fourth and fifth goals in the past four games played. Edinger also netted his seventh point in the past four games played.

- 11/26: MECHANICS AVENGE HOME OPENING LOSS TO WINGS

Adam Edinger (9) continues at a torrid pace scoring his sixth goal in the past five games. Peter Szabo (9) and Brent Gretzky (13) assisted on the power play goal. A few minutes later Kalamazoo tied the game when Mike Manley scored on the power play. Dan Carriere and Greg Labenski notched the assist. The lone second period goal was scored by Kris Vernarsky (3) when he took a pass from John Hartman (1). Chris Gignac (7) tallied the other assist on the goal. The Mechanics out shot the Wings in the period 14 to 6 and led in shots 32 to 19 after two periods. In the third period the Mechanics iced the game away with two more goals. Tom Kotsopoulos (1) and Mike Ramsay (5) scored while Vernarsky (3), Gignac (8) Konstantin Kalmikov (7) and Greg Bullock (15) tallied the assists. Rod Branch made his eighth consecutive start in net earning his eighth win of the season. Branch finished the game with 29 saves on 30 Wings shots.

Goaltender of the Week

The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch as the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week. Branch finished the week with a 1-2-0 record, in 179:30 minutes played. Branch also made 89 saves on 98 shots for a .908 SV% and a 3.01 GAA in the three games played this week.

Player of the Month

The Mechanics nominate Brent Gretzky for the Sher-Wood Player of the Month for the month of November. Gretzky finished with 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in the ten games played this month. Gretzky also finished with a +3 rating, scored an empty net goal and had five power play assists.

Goaltender of the Month

The Mechanics nominate Rod Branch for the Southern Sports Supply goaltender of the month for the month of November. Branch finished with a 5-5-0 record in 574:03 played, including 265 saves on 293 shots. Branch also finished with a .904 SV% and a 2.92 GAA. On November 2nd vs. Missouri Branch recorded his 1st shutout of the season and 24th of his career.

Rookie of the Month

The Mechanics nominate Peter Szabo as the Easton Rookie of the Month for the month of November. Szabo finished the month with nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in the 10 games played this month. During a three game span Szabo had a three game point streak for six total points.

Upcoming Week: Week Seven, Two Games

- Friday, December 2nd: The Rockford IceHogs make their way into "the Garage"

- Saturday, December 3rd: The Flint Generals make their first visit

The Generals make their first visit to "the Garage" and marks the third meeting of the season between the two teams with each splitting the two games. The last meeting was on November 25th with the Generals coming away with the 4-3 win. SATURDAY IS ALSO A HAT GIVEAWAY NIGHT AND HOLIDAY JERSEY AUCTION FOLLOWING THE GAME. FIFTH THIRD BANK AND 101.1 WRIF ARE THE PRESENTING SPONSOR AND THE PROCEEDS FROM THE AUCTION WILL GO TO THE CARE HOUSE IN MT. CLEMENS.
