INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Tonight the Missouri Mavericks open a six-game home stand - their second longest of the season - with a visit from the Allen Americans. Missouri also starts the final quarter of the season tonight, three points behind the Alaska Aces for the Mountain Division's final playoff spot.
WHO: Missouri Mavericks (26-21-7) vs. Allen Americans (35-17-5)
WHAT: Season Game #55, Home Game #28 - Military Appreciation Weekend. The Mavericks will wear specialty jerseys for back-to-back games for the first time in team history. Their red, white and blue military-themed jerseys debut tonight and will be auctioned off after the game tomorrow. The auction will help raise funds for [1]Warriors' Ascent - an organization that provides services to soldiers and first responders suffering from PTSD.

Live gameday Tweeting at @MoMavsGameDay. Tonight's game also features a "Friday Night Ice" television broadcast on KSMO-TV. Joel Goldberg will handle the play-by-play with Mavericks assistant coach Simon Watson providing analysis. The broadcast begins with the pregame show at 7:00 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:35.
CHECKING THE RIVALRY
The Mavericks are facing the Americans tonight for the eighth of 13 meetings between the clubs this season. It's the third of six between Missouri and Allen at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena where the Mavericks have a 1-1-0 record in the series. Tonight's visit is Allen's first since November 30 - a 1-0 Americans win behind a 24-save shutout by Riley Gill. The Mavericks (8-2-0) and Allen (8-2-1) had two of the best Februaries in the ECHL, and each team will rely on different strengths in tonight's game. Allen's offense averaged 5.36 goals per game in February and only scored fewer than three goals in a game once. Missouri, meanwhile, boasts a 2.13 team goals-against average in its last eight games.
ONE-TIMER * With 13 games, March is the second-busiest month of the season for the Mavericks. Eight of their 13 will be played at home against Allen (4), Wichita (2) and Tulsa (2). Missouri is 6-3-1 at home against those opponents.
