Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Rick Pinkston has been returned from loan by the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) and Sam Brittain has been reassigned to the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL) by the Florida Panthers (NHL).

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.

Pinkston, 26, has played 14 games for the Admirals this season where he has scored one point on one assist while earning nine penalty minutes. In 16 games with the Monarchs this season, Pinkston has played 18 games and recorded five points on two goals and three assists while adding 22 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-1, 201-pound left-shot defenseman was acquired by the Monarchs in a Nov. 12 trade with the Allen Americans, where he won the Kelly Cup in 2016 and posted 14 points on two goals and 12 assists in 45 regular season games, adding 48 penalty minutes. In the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Pinkston played 16 games and recorded four assists.

The native of Trenton, Mich., played four seasons at Dartmouth College (NCAA) where he logged 117 games and scored 34 points on 11 goals and 23 assists. The second-year pro has played 12 games in the AHL between the Springfield Falcons and San Jose Barracuda.

Brittain, 24, heads to Springfield for the third time this season after posting a 20-9-4 record, 3.28 GAA and a .896 save percentage for the Monarchs.

The 6-foot-3, 227-pound native of Calgary, Alberta was selected in the 4th round (#92 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers before playing four seasons at the University of Denver. While on campus, Brittain posted a 51-34-11 record, was nominated for the Mike Richter Award (Top Goaltender) and was named to the AHCA/CCM All-America First Team (West) in his senior season.

In his professional career, Brittain has logged 1687 minutes in 33 AHL games between the Portland Pirates San Antonio Rampage and Springfield Thunderbirds and has posted a 13-12-4-1 record, a 2.51 GAA and a .916 save percentage. In 63 career ECHL games, Brittain has played 3558 minutes and earned a 34-20-2 record, a 3.04 GAA and a .895 save percentage.

Pinkston and the Monarchs are in action Friday, Mar. 3 (7 p.m.), when they open a two-game series with the Reading Royals at Santander Arena.
