Rapid City, SD-Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Friday that defenseman Aaron Harstad has returned to the Steelheads, after the defenseman was released from his professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the American Hockey League's Texas Stars earlier in the day. Harstad will be available for the Steelheads' contest with the Rapid City Rush on Friday night.

Harstad, 24, was signed to his PTO with Texas on February 19th and appeared in two games for the Stars, recording no points.

The Steelheads acquired the 2011 Winnipeg Jets draft pick on February 8th in a trade with the Norfolk Admirals, with Harstad skating in four games for the Steelheads and posting a goal and two assists to go along with a plus-5 rating. In 37 games this season with the Admirals and Steelheads, Harstad has three goals and 15 points.

Harstad has played 33 career AHL games with the St. John's IceCaps, the Manitoba Moose, and the Stars, registering four assists and 28 penalty minutes. In 51 ECHL games with the Tulsa Oilers, Admirals, and Steelheads, the second-year pro has totaled five goals and 23 points, as well as a plus-10 rating.

The Steelheads face the Rapid City Rush for the second game of their three-game series on Friday night at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:05pm MT, with the game available on 93.1FM KTIK and on ECHLTV.
