TULSA, OK - The Missouri Mavericks series against the Tulsa Oilers continues to be one of the most exciting of the 2015-16 season. The Mavs edged the Oilers 4-3 in a shootout win Tuesday night on the road in Tulsa, OK for the division rivals' fifth matchup.

Every game between Missouri and Tulsa has been decided by a 1-goal margin. The Oilers are responsible for the lone shootout loss the Mavericks took on Oct. 30th before their historic 14-game win streak began, and the 4-3 regulation loss which ended that streak on Dec. 13th.

Tonight's eighth straight victory moves the Mavericks ahead another 2 points atop the ECHL standings with a nearly flawless 27-3-0-1 overall record.

Mavericks net-minder Josh Robinson made 29 saves through 65 minutes between the pipes for Missouri. Robinson is currently ranked second in the league amongst top goaltenders with a goals-against average (GAA) of 1.65 and a .935 save percentage (SV%).

The visiting Mavericks took control of the scoreboard in the opening period, striking twice to own a 2-0 lead heading into the second frame. Kane Lafranchise was first to add his name to the scoresheet, aided by Jesse Root and Tyler Barnes at 10:09 of the 1st period. Just over 5 minutes later, Sebastien Sylvestre doubled the Mavs lead 2-0, scoring at 10:15 with the help of teammates Tanner Fritz and David deKastrozza.

The Oilers had no answer for the Mavs in the first 20 minutes of play, but came storming back into the game in the 2nd period as Adam Pleskach scored at 6:56 (assisted by Connor Kucera and Christophe Lalancette) followed by Phil Brewer at 9:59 on a Tulsa power-play opportunity. Dan DeSalvo and Matt Konan were credited with the helpers on Brewer's game-tying goal.

Jesse Root, appearing in his first game back with the Mavericks since being recalled to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) on Dec. 9th, regained the lead for the Mavericks at 12:37 of the 2nd period with a lone assist from Rocco Carzo. Root's 14th goal of the season places him back atop Missouri standings as the leading goal-scorer for the team.

With just minutes left in the period, Pleskach scored his second goal of the night to once again tie the game up at the BOK Center. Lalancette and Brandon Wong assisted on the play.

The two teams remained locked in stalemate through the final 20 minutes of regulation hockey in the 3rd period, with the Oilers outshooting the Mavericks 7-4.

When a 5-minute overtime of 3-on-3 hockey could not yield a winner, the game decision moved to a shootout. Robinson blanked Brewer, Wong and Dennis Brown in the Mavericks' crease, and Andrew Courtney scored the game-winning goal against the Oilers' Matt Grogan to secure the extra point for Missouri and the team's eighth straight win.

The Mavericks play their next 5 games on the road before they return home to Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on Friday, Jan. 22nd when they host the Tulsa Oilers in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available online at TicketMaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
