Elmira Jackals Goaltender C.J. Motte Sprawls to Block the Net

ELMIRA, NY - January 6, 2016 - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, are proud to announce that goaltender C.J. Motte has been named the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for December.
Motte went 4-2-0 with a 1.58 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage in eight appearances during the month, helping the Jackals win a season-long seven straight games from Dec. 5-18.
The St. Clair, Mich. native stopped a season-high 44 shots in a 2-1 shootout win against Manchester on Dec. 11 and made at least 22 saves six times during the month. Motte allowed two goals or less in six of his seven starts in December.
Motte, who is under an American Hockey League contract with the Rochester Americans, has appeared in 21 games with Elmira this season posting a record of 9-9-0 with one shutout, a 2.62 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Motte was a standout netminder at Ferris State University. He appeared in 127 career games posting a record of 66-49-12 with 15 shutouts, a 2.13 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. As a junior, Motte was named a Hobey Baker Award finalist as the NCAA's Top Collegiate Player and as a senior he was named to the WCHA Third All-Star Team and to the NCAA Lowes Senior Class All-American First Team.
