WEEK IN REVIEW - Wichita began a stretch of four games in five nights as they took on the Allen Americans last Wednesday. Wichita and Allen played a back-and-forth game before Allen came out with a 4-3 win. The Thunder traveled to Missouri on New Year's Eve to wrap up 2015. Wichita jumped to a 1-0 lead, but Missouri scored seven unanswered en route to a 7-1 win. The Thunder headed to the state of Indiana for their first two games of 2016. Wichita beat Indy 2-1 on Friday and followed that up with a 3-2 shootout win on Sunday afternoon.
ROSTER MOVES - Head Coach Kevin McClelland continued to re-tool his roster, acquiring Kale Kerbashian on Monday and releasing Joey Sides on Tuesday. Last season, Kerbashian had a career-high 62 points (21g, 41a) while splitting time between Evansville and Rapid City.
BACK-TO-BACK WINS - Wichita had back-to-back wins this past weekend for the first time since Halloween. In fact, it was the first time this season the Thunder had won consecutive games on the road.
FIRSTS - Logan Nelson and Martin Nemcik recorded their first goals in a Thunder uniform this past weekend. Nelson has five markers on the season, including his totals with Quad City. Nemcik potted his first ECHL goal that helped the Thunder tie the game and had an assist on Sunday.
300 - Ian Lowe will appear in his 300th professional game on Friday night. The Bradwardine, Manitoba native recorded his 200th point of his pro career on Sunday afternoon. He is just three assists shy of hitting 100 for his Thunder career.
MONEY'S WORTH - Wichita went 10 games without needing more than 60 minutes to decide the outcome. Over the last three weeks, the Thunder have played five out of the last nine contests past regulation. Wichita is 1-1 in games decided in the overtime period and 3-3 in shootout situations.
STONEWOLF RESUMES - Wichita resumes its Stonewolf Casino Cup Series against Tulsa with a pair of games this weekend. The Thunder host the Oilers on Friday and then travel to the BOK Center on Saturday night. Wichita trails Tulsa for third place by 10 points in the Central Division and is 3-2-0-2 in the season-series. The last two meetings between the two teams have gone into a shootout.
