Post-Game 'Carrot Toss' to Support Local Non-Profits
January 6, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, are pleased to partner with Anderson Trucking Services (ATS) to announce the launch of a new program aimed at supporting local non-profits in a unique and entertaining fashion.
On Thursday, the Swamp Rabbits and ATS will launch "Carrots for Caring," a program that couples fun for fans of all ages with the ability to give back to the community. During each remaining home game, all fans are encouraged to participate in the program by making a $1 donation on the concourse. For each dollar donated, fans will receive a foam carrot to be used at the end of the contest.
If the Swamp Rabbits win, fans will be prompted to throw their foam carrots onto the ice to celebrate the victory, and the team will add $100 to the donation amount collected for that game. In the event of a Swamp Rabbits loss, fans will still be able to launch their carrots at the end of the game, but with the goal of increasing the team's donation to local non-profits. Following a loss, each net will be placed at center ice, and for each carrot that lands inside a net, the donation amount will increase by a dollar.
"We are thrilled to launch this new program with the help of ATS and provide a fun way for the team and our fans to support deserving community organizations," General Manager Chris Lewis said. "Our fans provide tremendous support for the team both in the arena and out in the community. The carrot toss was started by the fans to celebrate Swamp Rabbits' victories. Now, deserving non-profits can take part in the game-night celebration, even if the team doesn't come away with the win."
At each home game, the Carrots for Caring donation tally will be announced so fans know where the amount stands as the month progresses. At the end of each month, the Swamp Rabbits will invite one lucky fan to participate in an on-ice check presentation to the non-profits designated to receive the Carrots for Carin g proceeds. In addition, Swamp Rabbits corporate partners are invited to contribute and participate by making gifts and matching nightly game collections. During the month of January, ATS will make a contribution to further enhance the amount to be donated at the end of the month.
