
Mauricio Homers Again, But Syracuse Falls to Buffalo, 10-6, on Saturday Night

Buffalo, NY - The Syracuse Mets fell to the Buffalo Bisons on Saturday night, 10-6, at Sahlen Field. The Mets missed plenty of opportunities, leaving 16 runners on base in the game while going 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
Syracuse (27-40) struck first in the top of the second inning. Jonathan Araúz led off with a single. Three batters later with two outs, Luke Ritter singled to put runners on first and third base. Danny Mendick followed with a double to score Araúz for a 1-0 Mets lead.
Buffalo (31-37) responded in the bottom of the second with one swing of the bat. Wynton Bernard homered to begin the frame to know the game up, 1-1.
The Mets regained the lead in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Mendick singled, Mauricio singled, and Luke Voit walked to load the bases. Stewart then came to the plate and was hit by a pitch to bring home a run for a 2-1 edge. Unfortunately, the Mets left the bases loaded in the inning.
The Bisons put together the game's fateful frame in the bottom of the fourth. Jordan Luplow led off with double. Then, Bernard followed with a double that scored Luplow, knotting the game up, 2-2. Jamie Richie walked, and L.J. Talley singled home Bernard to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead. A Cameron Eden two-run single make it a 5-3 ballgame and knocked Syracuse starter Mike Vasil out of the game. Vasil was making his Triple-A debut. A balk later in the frame scored another run to make it 6-2, and an Otto Lopez single finished the inning's scoring with Buffalo in front, 7-2.
Syracuse got runs back in the sixth and seventh innings. With one out in the sixth, Syracuse loaded the bases and scored a run on a Jaylin Davis groundout to make it a 7-3 game. But the Mets left two runners on base in the inning.
In the seventh, the Mets loaded the bases with two outs and got a bases-loaded walk from Voit to make it 7-4. Syracuse did not score again in the inning, leaving the bases loaded.
Buffalo added two runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth to take a 10-4 advantage before a two-run home run from Ronny Mauricio ended the game's scoring at 10-6. the homer is Mauricio's third of the week and his 11th of the season.
Syracuse and Buffalo conclude their six-game series on Sunday afternoon with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. at Sahlen Field.
