
Martin, Hissey Lead Sea Dogs to 6-1 Win

Portland, ME - Chris Martin struck out a season high eight batters and Peter Hissey drove-in two runs and scored two runs leading the Portland Sea Dogs to a 6-1 victory over the Harrisburg Senators Thursday night at Hadlock Field. The Sea Dogs (30-41) won their fourth consecutive series at Hadlock Field taking two out of three from the Senators (36-35).
The game featured the Double-A debut of Jackie Bradley Jr. The 22-year-old prospect ripped the first pitch he saw into right-field for a base hit. Bradley went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in his debut.
Portland starter Chris Martin was outstanding tossing four shutout innings scattering three hits and striking out a season high eight batters. Martin worked around a double by Zach Walters to strike out the side.
Jeremy Hazelbaker continued his hot hitting with a run scoring double in the third inning. Hazelbaker has now hit safely in 19 of his last 25 games. Reynaldo Rodriguez added a RBI double, his team leading 21st, as the Sea Dogs took a 3-0 lead.
Peter Hissey (3-for-3, 2 R, 2 RBI) led the Portland offensive attack with three hits. Hissey had a RBI triple in the fourth and scored on a wild pitch. He added a RBI double in the sixth and a single in the eighth.
Sea Dogs' pitchers combined to strike out ten Senators. Duarte tossed two innings of relief allowing one run and notching one strikeout. Brock Huntzinger (2-4) pitched three perfect innings to finish the game and earn the win.
Senators' starter Robert Gilliam (1-7) took the loss allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits in 5.1 innings of work.
The Sea Dogs begin a four game series against the Trenton Thunder in Trenton, New Jersey with a 7:05 PM game Friday night. Sea Dogs right-handed pitcher Stolmy Pimentel (1-3, 5.16) will take the mound against Trenton south paw Shaeffer Hall (5-6). Catch all the action on 95.5/95.9 FM WPEI.
