Reading Fightin Phils News Release

Starter Julio Rodriguez and reliever Lisalverto Bonilla have been selected to the World roster in the 14th Annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday on Sunday, July 8 at 5:00 p.m.

Bonilla and Rodriguez were selected by Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, and the 30 Major League Clubs. The 25-man rosters for both the United States and World Team are comprised of at least one full-season Minor League player from each Major League organization.

Through June 21, Rodriguez is 4-1 with a 2.81 ERA in 13 starts with the Reading Phillies. With his ERA mark, the Puerto Rico native ranks ninth among Eastern League pitching leaders. Rodriguez has also struck out 71 batters, which is good enough for fourth among strikeout leaders in the league. He also is fourth in the Eastern League among lowest opponent batting average (.220) and third among highest strikeout per nine innings pitched ratio (8.67).

In his last start, Rodriguez came within one strikeout of matching his professional high when he struck out 10 batters in a 4-2 win over the Akron Aeros. He has allowed three earned runs or less in eleven of his thirteen starts in 2012.

His efforts this season has earned the right-handed pitcher Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors for the period of May 7 through May 14 where he went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA over 11.0 innings pitched over two starts. Heading into 2012, Rodriguez was ranked by Baseball America as the no.17 prospect in the Philadelphia farm system.

Bonilla joined the R-Phils squad on May 5 after he went 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA over 10 appearances as a reliever with Clearwater (A+) to begin the season. Since then, Bonilla has gone 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 15 games with Reading. He also has struck out 33 batters while walking 10 batters.

The Dominican Republic native was named the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week for the week June 11 through June 17 after he struck out seven batters over five innings pitched in two relief appearances. Prior to this season, Bonilla spent all of 2011 with the Lakewood Blueclaws (A).

The game features the top Minor League prospects and will be broadcast live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD, and MLB.TV. SiriusXM, the Official Satellite Radio Partner of Major League Baseball, will broadcast play-by-play coverage on its channel MLB Network Radio.

Through its history, 88 players have played in both the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Last season alone, 30 Major League All-Stars had played in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

There's only 20 days remaining until the Baseballtown All-Star Classic and tickets for that and all regular season home games can be purchased online at www.RPhils.com, by phone at 610-370-BALL, and in person at the R-Phils Ticket Office at FirstEnergy Stadium. The 2012 season featuring the Baseballtown All-Star Classic at America's Classic Ballpark is presented by Pepsi.
