
Senators Sloppy in 6-1 Loss to Portland

Thursday night at Hadlock Field in Portland the Senators committed a season-high four errors on their way to a 6-1 loss to Portland. Portland scored three in the third and two more in the fourth to take control of the game. Sea Dogs' starter Chris Martin struck out a career high eight batters in his four innings of work.
Portland used a three doubles and an error in the second inning to score three runs off Senators' starting pitcher Rob Gilliam. In the third, Portland scored two more runs with two outs and no one on base. Gilliam walked Ryan Dent which was followed by a triple and a wild pitch for Portland's two runs.
The Senators scored their only run in the sixth inning when Justin Bloxom grounded into a double-play with runners on first and third, which scored Tim Pahuta.
Gilliam took the loss, falling to 1-7 on the season while Brock Huntzinger earned his second win pitching three scoreless innings.
Jimmy Van Ostrand had two hits in the game for Harrisburg. The Senators had not committed more than two errors in any one game this season until Thursday night. Cory VanAllen and Marcos Frias combined to pitch 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
Harrisburg falls to 36-35 on the season which is officially half-way over with the conclusion of the game Thursday.
The Senators begin a four-game series on Friday night against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on all mobile devices through the iHeart Radio app beginning at 6:45 p.m.
