Marlies Sign Three to AHL Contracts

Toronto Marlies General Manager Kyle Dubas announced today that the club has signed forwards Shane Conacher, Chase Witala and Mason Marchment to AHL contracts. All three players are currently signed to Amateur Try Out contracts with the Marlies.

Conacher, 21, has skated in three games for the Marlies recording one goal and one assist. He joined the team after completing his third season with Canisius College where he was named first team All-AHC and team MVP, leading the Griffins in scoring with 46 points including six game winning goals. Conacher has two points in three games with the Marlies this season.

Witala, 20, joins Toronto following his final season with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League. The Prince George native recorded 79 points in 71 games for his hometown team while assuming Assistant Captain's duties for the last two seasons.

Marchment, 21, joins the Marlies after splitting his 2015-16 season between the Hamilton Bulldogs (OHL) and the Mississauga Steelheads (OHL). In 34 games with the Bulldogs the Uxbridge native recorded 33 points before being traded to Mississauga for the remainder of the season. With the Steelheads, Marchment recorded 18 points in the final 27 regular season games. In seven playoff games he recorded two goals and three assists. Mason is the son of former Maple Leaf Bryan Marchment.

The Toronto Marlies return to action tonight at Ricoh Coliseum when they welcome the Lake Erie Monsters for a 7:00PM contest. Currently atop the American Hockey League, Toronto can clinch their fifth division championship with a victory. Tickets are available at marlies.ca or by calling 416-597-PUCK (7825).
