Canes Assign Patrick Brown to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Patrick Brown to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Brown, 23, has appeared in seven NHL games for the Hurricanes this season, totaling one goal and one assist. The Bloomfield Hills, MI, native ranks tied for sixth among Checkers skaters with 13 goals in 66 AHL games this season. Brown (6'1", 210 lbs.) played four seasons at Boston College before turning professional, and was a member of the Eagles' 2012 NCAA championship team. He signed with Carolina as a free agent in April 2014, and has earned two points (1g, 1a) in 14 career NHL games, and 33 points (15g, 18a) in 126 career AHL games.

The Checkers, who are currently leading a tight battle for a playoff spot with four games remaining, play their final two home games of the regular season at Bojangles' Coliseum this Saturday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.).
