Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons fell by a score of 7-3 to the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday night at the MassMutual Center.
The Wolf Pack jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal from Daniel Paille 4:57 into the game. His fourth of the year was assisted from Chris Brown and Cristoval Nieves. The Falcons responded with a goal from Domenic Monardo at 6:25. Craig Cunningham gave the forward a pass that deflected off his skate and into the net. Dakota Mermis also assisted on his eighth of the year. The Wolf Pack would pick up two goals in the final two minutes of the opening frame. First, Nieves scored his first of the year with assists from Chris Brown and Paille. With 1:14 left, Tyler Brown intercepted a Dakota Mermis pass to score his fourth of the season unassisted.
Just 55 seconds into the second period, Henrik Samuelsson scored a rebound goal on the power play. His third of the season moved the score to a 3-2 Wolf Pack lead. Michael Bunting and Steven Delisle assisted on the goal. Hartford stormed back with a power play goal of their own at 6:30. Jayson Megna tallied his thirteenth of the year with assists from Luke Adam and Ryan Graves. Just 12 seconds later, the Wolf Pack took a 5-2 lead. Paille scored his fifth of the year with an assist from Tommy Hughes.
5:20 into the third period, Calle Andersson extended the Wolf Pack lead to 6-2 with a slap shot goal on the power play. His fifth of the season was assisted by Mat Bodie and Adam. Bunting added another Falcons tally at 7:16 to bring the game to a 6-3 score. His eleventh of the season was assisted by Tyler Gaudet and Samuelsson. Nieves tallied his second of the game at 9:32 to finish the scoring. Paille assisted on the goal to complete a four-point night. Treutle stopped 25 shots to move his record to 12-18-5. Magnus Hellberg made 33 saves to improve his record to 29-19-3.
The Falcons host Daniel Briere Bobblehead Night presented by Stop & Shop on Sunday, April 10 against the Providence Bruins at 5 p.m. Briere will be in attendance and honored prior to the game. An autograph session will be held with the Falcons legend following the puck drop until the end of the first intermission.
