Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (41-25-4-1) poured on the pressure against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (32-32-4-3), but were ultimately undone by two strong individual efforts by the Phantoms in a 4-0 loss on Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

Martin Ouellette made 40 saves for his second consecutive shutout, and Adam Comrie's first AHL hat trick turned the tables and gave the Phantoms the win.

"I thought their goalie had a really big night," said Penguins head coach Clark Donatelli. "He made some big saves. In the first period, we came out hard. Second period, we were hard. The puck just didn't go in the net."

The Penguins were outshooting the Phantoms 28-8 when Lehigh Valley's Comrie broke the scoreless tie with 2:35 to go in the second period.

Lehigh Valley scored again, going up 2-0 when Chris Conner bounced a shot off of Tim Brent's back and into the Penguins net 59 seconds into the third period.

Comrie scored two power play goals at 8:03 and 12:14 of the third to complete the hat trick and bring the Phantoms to 4-0.

Comrie's two power play goals saw Lehigh Valley finish the contest two-for-eight on the man advantage. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was unsuccessful on eight power plays of its own. The two teams combined for a total 94 penalty minutes.

Tristan Jarry made 18 saves on 22 shots, while Ouellette recorded his fifth-straight win.

The Penguins' next game is tomorrow night, April 9, against the Hershey Bears at Giant Center. Puck drop between the Penguins and Bears is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
