Marlies Sign Pair of Goaltenders to PTO Contracts

Dave Nonis, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed goaltenders Andrew Engelage and David Brown to professional try out contracts.

Engelage, 22, has played in 32 games this season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, compiling a record of 18-10-3-1 with a 2.56 goals against average and 0.921 save percentage. He ranks third in the ECHL in save percentage and fifth in goals against average. Last season, the 6'5, 206-pound goaltender appeared in 10 games with the Marlies, posting a record of 2-6-0.

Brown, 25, has played in 29 games with the Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League, registering a 13-13-1 record with a 2.34 goals against average and 0.930 save percentage. The Stoney Creek, Ontario native ranks first in the CHL in save percentage and second in goals against average.

Brown was originally selected in the eighth round, 228th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Marlies host the Hamilton Bulldogs tonight at Ricoh Coliseum, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tonight's game will be broadcast live on Leafs TV. Toronto returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they welcome the Grand Rapids Griffins to Ricoh Coliseum for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
