February 18, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman BORIS VALABIK from the Chicago Wolves, and dealt him to the Boston Bruins with center RICH PEVERLEY in exchange for forward BLAKE WHEELER and defenseman MARK STUART.
VALABIK has tallied nine points (9A) and ranks first on the Wolves and eighth in the American Hockey League with 165 penalty minutes in 49 games this season.
The 25-year-old blueliner has amassed 29 points (4G, 25A) and 609 penalty minutes - which ranks third on Chicago's all-time register - in 174 career regular-season outings with the Wolves, spanning parts of five seasons (2006-present). He also appeared in 32 career Calder Cup playoff games with the Wolves, tallying five points (3G, 2A) and 108 penalty minutes, and was a member of Chicago's Calder Cup championship team in 2008.
Atlanta's first selection, 10th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, VALABIK skated in 80 career National Hockey League games with Atlanta from 2007 to 2009, notching seven assists and 210 penalty minutes.
The Wolves take on the Rockford IceHogs at the Rockford MetroCentre tonight at 7 p.m., before returning home to host the Texas Stars at the Allstate Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
