Toronto, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies 4-3 on Friday night. Ben Maxwell had a goal and an assist while Mathieu Carle tallied two assists as the âDogs snapped their five-game losing streak.
The âDogs opened the game's scoring at 4:39 while on a five-on-three power play. Alexander Avtsin received the puck from J.T. Wyman, while positioned at the left side of the net. Avtsin dished a pass to Andreas Engqvist, who whacked the puck past Toronto starting goaltender Ben Scrivens.
The Bulldogs increased their lead to 2-0 at 9:18 of the second stanza. Kyle Klubertanz skated down the left side of the Marlies' zone before feeding a pass to the front of the net. Aaron Palushaj tapped the pass past Scrivens and into the net.
Toronto made the game 2-1 at 10:21 of the middle frame. Greg Scott fired a shot on net that was stopped by Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford. The rebound bounced onto the stick of John Mitchell, who fired a shot into the net. The Marlies added their second goal at 15:39. Alex Foster sent the puck to Scott, who was at the left side of the net. Scott faked a shot before dishing the puck to Ryan Hamilton, who one-timed a shot past Sanford.
Danny Richmond gave Toronto its first lead of the game at 2:57 of the final frame. Richmond and Hamilton skated into the Bulldogs' zone on a two-on-one. Hamilton held onto the puck before sending a pass across the front of the net to Richmond, who snapped a shot past Sanford.
Hamilton tied the game 3-3 at 8:32 of the third stanza. Mathieu Carle sent a pass to Hunter Bishop, who carried the puck into Toronto's zone. Bishop blasted a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that squeaked through Scrivens' pads and into the net. The âDogs took a 4-3 lead at 11:42 with a power-play goal. Ben Maxwell received the puck from Frederic St. Denis before firing a shot towards the net. The puck deflected off a Marlies player and past Scrivens.
The Bulldogs will return to Copps Coliseum to host the San Antonio Rampage for a game at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19th. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
