Portland Pirates News Release
PROVIDENCE, RI - Zach Hamill and Jamie Arniel scored shootout goals and Michael Hutchinson stopped all four shooters he faced to lift the Providence Bruins past the Portland Pirates 4-3 in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 8,321 at the Dunkin' Donut Center.
Hamill, Lane MacDermott and Jordan Caron netted regulation goals for the Bruins, who snapped a seven-game losing streak with the win. Hutchinson also made 47 saves in regulation and overtime. Providence is now 24-28-3-1 on the season.
Jacob Lagace, T.J. Brennan and Mark Mancari scored for the Pirates, who saw their four-game winning streak and road winning streak end. Portland is now 33-15-4-2.
Hamill netted the only goal of the first period to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead after one. Lagace tied it early in the second period with his second in as many games only to see MacDermid push the Bruins back into a one-goal lead with just over four minutes left in the second. Brennan brought the Pirates back to even terms with 22.2 seconds left in the second to send the two teams into the third tied at two. Caron and Mancari traded goals in the third to send the two teams to overtime and eventually a shootout.
The Pirates out shot the Bruins 50-29 in the game as Jhonas Enroth took the loss.
The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the Game were 1. Hutchinson, 2. MacDermid and 3. Brennan.
