Marlies Sign Forward Jeff Cowan to PTO Contract

Dave Nonis, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced that the club has signed forward Jeff Cowan to a professional try-out contract.

Cowan, 34, has skated in 413 career NHL games, collecting 81 points (47 goals, 34 assists) to go along with 695 penalty minutes. The Scarborough, Ontario native played for four different teams during his NHL career, including the Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers, Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks. During the 2009-10 season with the Portland Pirates (AHL), the 6'2, 205-pound left winger recorded 18 goals and 13 assists in 62 games.

The Marlies end their four-game road swing tonight when they travel to Rochester to take on the Americans, with puck-drop scheduled for 7:35 p.m. Toronto returns home to host the Americans on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. Saturday's contest is the Marlies annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
