Texas goalie Richard Bachman (10-4-1) stopped 41 shots in his return from the NHL's Dallas Stars. Bachman made 18 saves in the first period and coasted to his third shutout of the year, the fourth of his AHL career. Stars forwards Greg Rallo, Luke Gazdic and Francis Wathier each scored as the Stars picked up their fourth shutout in eight all-time visits to the AT&T Center. Rampage goalie Joe Fallon (0-1-0) stopped 19 of 21 shots in the loss. The Stars return home to host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:00 PM at Cedar Park Center on Saturday night.
Texas scored the only goal of the first period, taking a 1-0 lead. Left wing Luke Gazdic finished off a two-on-one feed from Ondrej Roman for his fourth goal of the season. Right wing Sean Backman also assisted on the game's first goal.
In the second period, the Stars took advantage of a San Antonio turnover in the Rampage zone. San Antonio goalie Joe Fallon misplayed the puck in his own end, turning the puck over to Texas left wing Francis Wathier. The Stars forward scored his tenth goal of the year just 35 seconds into the period for a 2-0 Texas lead.
In the third period, Greg Rallo scored his tenth goal of the year with an empty-net tally at the 19:00 mark. The team's third goal of the night was set up by Fabian Brunnstrom and Philip Larsen for the 3-0 final.
