Falcons Double up Sound Tigers 6-3

BRIDGEPORT, Conn (Dec. 17, 2010) -Dane Byers and John Moore each recorded three points and Gustaf Wesslau made 30 saves as the Springfield Falcons doubled up the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 6-3 at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Friday night.

The win improves Springfield's record to 14-14-1-1. The Sound Tigers now sit at .500 with a record of 13-13-1-2.

The home team had won each of the first four meetings between the Sound Tigers and Falcons this season, but it was the road team that jumped out to an early lead in this game. The earned a two-goal cushion just four minutes into the game on goals from David Savard and Chris D'Alvise. Springfield would increase the lead to three at 12:06 on Jonathan Sigalet's shot from the top of the left circle, and the Falcons had a 3-0 lead after the first period.

Springfield's offensive outburst continued as Dane Byers scored his seventh goal of the season at 5:57 of the second period to make the score 4-0. That would end Mikko Koskinen's night as Sound Tigers Head Coach Pat Bingham pulled the Finnish netminder in favor of Nathan Lawson. The Sound Tigers got on the board at 8:02 of the middle stanza courtesy of the man-advantage. Josh Bailey's initial shot was stopped but Jeremy Colliton knocked the rebound home to make the score 4-1. Springfield responded just 19 seconds later as Byers tallied his second goal of the game on a deflection that beat Lawson to bring the =46alcons lead back to four. The Sound Tigers top line would score once more on the power play at 14:57. Rhett Rakhshani and Colliton made some quick passes on the rush and Bailey was the recipient. The Bowmanville, ON native netted his fifth goal of the season to make the score 5-2 heading to the final period.

Micheal Haley would score the Sound Tigers third power play goal of the night with 9:20 remaining to cut the Springfield lead to two. However the Falcons answered quickly as John Moore notched his second goal of the year just two minutes later. Moore's tally rounded out the scoring and Springfield skated away with a 6-3 win.

The Sound Tigers continue their three-game weekend homestand tomorrow night when they host the Worcester Sharks at 7:00 p.m.
