Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--Behind 31 saves from goaltender Jeremy Smith, the Milwaukee Admirals recorded their fourth shutout of the year as they beat the Lake Erie Monsters 3-0 at the Bradley Center and improved their record to 16-8-2-4.
Smith's strong performance gave him his first shutout in an Ads jersey, and Milwaukee moved eight games above .500, their high-water mark this year.
The Admirals got on the board 7:03 into the first period on a heads-up play by Ryan Thang. Monster's defensemen Julien Brouillette tried to move the puck from the right to left dot and misfired. Thang was right there to put on the pressure and intercept the puck in the slot, where he flipped a backhander over the right shoulder of Lake Erie goaltender Jason Bacashihua for the unassisted goal.
Mark Santorelli then put the Admirals up 2-0 at 5:31 of the second period on his seventh goal of the year. At the left circle, Linus Klasen seized the puck off of a Scott Ford pass around the boards and meandered his way towards the goal. Klasen slid the puck across the slot to Santorelli who was sitting back post and slapped the puck in the net.
With 8:27 left in the game Jamie Lundmark was able to put the icing on the cake with his fourth power-play goal of the season. Aaron Johnson controlled the puck from the right face-off dot and fired a wrist shot that Bacashihua turned away. Lundmark was coming in towards the goal down the left side and scooped the rebound top-shelf past the stick of Bacashihua for the goal. Andreas Thuresson also picked up an assist on the tally.
Smith stood tall between the pipes as he turned away all 31 of Lake Erie's shots in route to his fifth win of the season, and his first shutout as an Admiral. The shutout was the third of Smith's professional career as he has recorded two in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones.
The Admirals will look to ride this two game winning streak, and four game point streak, into Christmas as they travel to Chicago for two games on December 18 and 21. The Ads will return to home ice for back-to-back games on December 27 and 28.
