
Marlies sign F Tyler Doig

Mike Penny, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced Friday that the club has signed centre Tyler Doig to a standard player's contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Doig, 21, is in his first professional season with the ECHL's Columbia Inferno. In 33 games this season, the 6'0, 180-pound forward has 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) and a plus-three rating. Doig ranks first on Columbia and sixth out of all ECHL rookies with 20 assists. On December 20, 2007, Doig was selected to represent the Inferno at the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game.
Prior to turning pro, the Seaforth, Ontario native played 196 games in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts, Guelph Storm and Belleville Bulls from 2003-07. During that span, Doig registered 170 points (70 goals, 100 assists) and 201 penalty minutes.
The Marlies continue their eight-game road trip this evening against the Wolves - AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers - at Chicago's Allstate Arena with puck drop scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST. The Marlies will return home to Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday, January 26 to host the Quad City Flames - AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames - for a 4:00 p.m. EST match-up.
