In Thursday's action, goaltender Nolan Schaefer made 21 saves for his second straight shutout and fifth of the season as Houston downed Manitoba, 3-0... Rich Peverley and Matt Ellison each had a goal and two assists to lead Milwaukee past Toronto, 4-2... On Wednesday, Drew Miller tallied a hat trick and an assist as Portland took a 5-3 win at Bridgeport.

LOOKING AHEAD:
North Division-leading Toronto visits West Division powers Rockford and Chicago as an eight-game road trip continues this weekend... The Marlies head to the MetroCentre on Friday with 54 points, one better than the Wolves and two up on the IceHogs... Kris Newbury leads Toronto with 12 goals (12-15-27), including one in a 5-3 loss to Rockford on Nov. 18... Second-year pro Robbie Earl has a five-game scoring streak (2-4-6), as does Marlies scoring leader David Ling (2-3-5)... Second-year goaltender Justin Pogge is 13-3-4 with a 2.27 GAA for Toronto... Rockford is 1-3-0-0 on its five-game homestand after winning its previous six home games... Martin St. Pierre leads the team and is tied for third in the league with 46 points (13-33-46)... Troy Brouwer has a team-high 17 goals (17-12-29) for the IceHogs.
Second place in the East Division is up for grabs when in-state rivals Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Hershey square off at the Wachovia Arena on Friday... The Penguins have won seven straight home games since a 5-2 loss to the Bears on Dec. 7... Tim Brent leads the Pens with a career-high 33 points (6-27-33) in 35 games... Chris Minard has seven goals over his last five games overall and four goals in four games against Hershey... Rookie goaltender John Curry has won six straight decisions and boasts a 1.33 GAA over that span... Bears winger Grant Potulny leads the team with 15 goals (15-9-24), including two in that Dec. 7 win over Wilkes-Barre... Brent Johnson, a veteran of 217 NHL appearances, is scheduled to get a conditioning start in net for Hershey, his first AHL appearance since Feb. 27, 2004.
An Atlantic Division battle pits Worcester against Providence at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday... The Sharks are the only team with a winning record against the league-leading Bruins this season (2-1-0-1)... Mike Iggulden leads the Sharks with 15 goals and 36 points in 34 games, and hasn't gone more than three straight contests without a point all season... Rookie forward Derek Joslin has a three-game scoring streak (2-2-4) for Worcester, and defenseman Tom Walsh has an assist in four straight outings (0-5-5)... Providence's Pascal Pelletier leads the AHL with 23 goals (23-22-45) and boasts an eight-game scoring streak (7-6-13)... He has notched a team-high four goals against Worcester this season (4-2-6)... Vladimir Sobotka has six points (3-3-6) in three games since returning from an NHL stint with parent-club Boston.

On Thursday, 2008 PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team captain Keith Aucoin notched his first career NHL goal for Carolina, but the Hurricanes fell to New Jersey, 4-1... Ty Conklin made 35 saves in Pittsburgh's 4-1 win at Tampa Bay, his ninth straight victory since being recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton... In Wednesday's action, 2006 Calder Cup champion Dave Steckel netted the game-winner as Washington edged Colorado, 2-1.
