Hurricanes Reassign Nolan To Albany

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Brandon Nolan has been returned on loan to Albany from the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. Albany also signed forward Jordan Fox to a professional tryout agreement, calling him up from the Flint Generals of the International Hockey League.

Nolan, 24, returns to the River Rats lineup after a one-game call up to Carolina, his third stint with the Hurricanes this year. The St. Catharine's, Ontario native was recalled to the NHL Thursday morning, January 10th, and logged 5:50 of ice time in Carolina's 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils that night at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Nolan is currently tied for second on the River Rats in points (27) and goals (13) and returns to Carolina where he has played in four games for the Hurricanes this season.

Fox, 23, is in his second season with the Flint Generals of the IHL and is looking to make his AHL debut. Last season, the Kirkwood, Missouri native's first year as a professional, he scored 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) and 95 penalty minutes in 74 games for Flint, helping the Generals make the playoffs. Fox finished the season ranked second on the team in games played, fifth in penalty minutes and ninth in points. He played two seasons of Division I college hockey at Merrimack College of Hockey East, along with three years of junior hockey in the USHL and NAHL.

The River Rats are in Maine Friday for a 7:05 pm face off against the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Albany's next home game comes on Saturday, January 12th against the Worcester Sharks at the Times Union Center.
