Marlies and Maple Leafs to renew tradition by hosting doubleheader
December 29, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies return to Air Canada Centre when they host the Cleveland Barons - AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks - at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 2nd. The day promises to be one to remember for members of Leafs Nation as tradition is renewed when the Maple Leafs play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second half of the doubleheader that evening at 7:30 p.m. The Marlies and Maple Leafs last hosted such an event during the Ontario Hockey League's Marlboros last season at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1989. In addition to interactive events and post-game Marlie autographs in the Galleria (next to Gate 1), fans who purchase tickets for the Marlies game will be able to redeem their game-used ticket for two-for-one entry at the Hockey Hall of Fame. This special offer will allow fans to experience the Leafs of yesterday (at the Hall of Fame), today (versus Sidney Crosby and the Penguins) and tomorrow (as the Marlies take-on Cleveland), all within the same day. Due to significant demand, Air Canada Centre's upper bowl seats are now available for ticket purchase.
For Marlies ticket information, please visit www.torontomarlies.com or call 416-872-5000. The Toronto Marlies are a proud member of the American Hockey League. The 27 team league was founded in 1936 and is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary season. The Marlies are in Winnipeg to face the Manitoba Moose - AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks - this evening at 8:30 p.m. EST.
